Horry's 'Dirty' screen? Blue Jays sweep?

Posted on: May 16, 2008 7:59 am

I see a lot of Hornets fans and various other posters saying that Robert Horry intentionally hit David West in the back. I'm going to go ahead and, sort of, disagree with you there. The reason it looked so bad is because David West already had a tender back and his coach decided it would be really, really smart to play him the entire three quarters. The dude got worn down. Plain and simple. Any other opinions on this?

San Antonio mentally drained the Hornets last night and the premature prediction for game seven that comes to mind is that the Spurs get the job done. I'm not going to guarantee anything, especially the way the Hornets have come up big at home in this series. But there's always that little piece of your mind that thinks the Spurs can do it. They're a battle tested team and definitely have the ability to win it on the road. I can guarantee one thing, game seven will be the closest contested game of the series. I hope David West is close to 100% Monday night.

Can the Lakers win in Utah? I think they might have to, because the Jazz gave them a big scare the other night and if they manage to get it back to L.A their confidence could be enough to carry them to a series win. Buuuuuut I really don't see that happening. I'm thinking Lakers in six.

Boston finally played with some passion against Cleveland the other night. Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo just decided enough was enough and took over the game. I think the Celtics end this whole road debacle in the playoffs and finish the Cavs tonight.

In other news, the Toronto Blue Jays completed a sweep of the Minnesota Twins Thursday night with a 3-2 win in extra innings on a Joe Inglett single in the top half of the 11th. Toronto is now 21-22 with a series against Philadelphia Friday to Sunday. The Jays offense has been starting to show signs of breaking out of its season-long slump, and now would be a perfect time with the division leading Rays sitting just 4 games ahead in the standings. As bad as the Jays have seemed to be, this season is still far from over.

Cool fact: The Jays have more sweeps this year in 43 games than they did the entire season last year.

The Flyers and Stars both played with desperation and kept their series alive. Does anyone think either of them will win on the road now, though? I don't.

May long weekend is on the horizon and I've got my beer in the fridge and my remote control close by. I'm ready to waste another weekend in front of my television watching sports.

Feel free to share your thoughts and grab a beer, but fill the fridge after please.

Horry's 'Dirty' screen? Blue Jays sweep?

Well the Jays should start losing again soon, no team in the league is as consistantly inconsistant as our Jays!

Amen to that. I'm not confident that the Jays will make it interesting.

Horry's 'Dirty' screen? Blue Jays sweep?

Well, I think Byron Scott "pulled a Mitchell" by leaving West out there when you're down 21 in the 4th quarter. So he has to take some of the blame. Luckily for the Hornets, the NBA doesn't know how to schedule and game 7 isn't until Monday, so he can rest up a bit. I do however believe Robert Horry knew full well that West had back issues, and that he knew West would probably be injured.

As for the Lakers and Celtics winning on the road, I don't see either one happening. For some reason, the Celtics have played with no passion (that you mentioned) when they're in those green jerseys. I just don't get it, do they need to see those 16 championship banners inorder to play hard? I say the Cavaliers win game 6, and I'm praying they can win game 7 too but I doubt it. For the Jazz I see the same thing, they are just too good at home, and maybe they'll steal game 7 like they did in Houston last year -- but I don't see it. Man, this home team winning game stuff is really pissing me off.

YES FINNALLY THE JAYS ARE SCORING RUNS!!!!! At this it's just a bonus that they're winning, the important thing is they're scoring runs (it's sad, I know). But, we all know the Jays have never had a 6 game winning streak or longer under John Gibbons, so this will end either tonight or tomorrow night.

Hey, anyone know if there's any truth to the rumor that Ricciardi would have fired Gibbons if they got swept in the double header on Monday? If that is true and he kept his job because they won the 2nd game, I think JP should be fired for making a decision based on one single game. Just MO though.

P.S. I'm allergic to beer, got a rum and coke instead?
